Webinar Description The purpose of this eWorkshop is to create an online Professional Learning Community
that supports participants? collaboration and fosters ownership of their learning. Over the course of
15 weeks, participants engage in 6 modulesthat each consist of 3 sections: Explore, Make it Work,
and Share. They select ideas to try out in their classrooms and share their experiences with
colleagues in online discussion boards and 2 online meetings. The estimated time needed to
complete the eWorkshop is 20 hours.
The essential question for this eWorkshop is: How can I maximize opportunities for all learners in a
multilingual setting? Modules 1-5 contain the following guiding questions that support participants in
responding to the essential question during Module 6.
1. What are the dynamics of grouping and regrouping in a multilingual classroom?
2. What is the unique nature of teaching and learning in groups where some students are
fluent in the language of instruction and others are not?
3. What is the nature of grouping where all students are second language learners of the
language of instruction?
4. How can I support students learning in their home language and connect it to their
learning in English?
5. How can I build on the opportunities of a multilingual classroom through cooperative
learning strategies?

By the end of the eWorkshop, participants will be able to:
? Articulate best practices for teaching multilingual students related to implementing grouping
strategies in a multilingual setting.
? Implement grouping strategies that maximize opportunities for all learners in a multilingual
setting.
? Build on the opportunities of a multilingual classroom through cooperative learning strategies.
Format: All materials and online meeting platform will be housed in the WIDA eLearning Center,
