Workshop Description

This workshop will build educators' knowledge in phonological and phonemic awareness assessment and instruction.
Participants will: 1.) define the various language systems and understand the reciprocal relationship between proficient oral and written language skill development 2.) summarize each component of phonological processing and identify, pronounce, classify and compare English phonemes 3.) identify best practices for teaching phonological and phonemic awareness and early phonics instruction and 4.) identify best practices for assessing phonological and phonemic awareness skills and how to use this data to inform instruction.
