2023-2024 Former Abbott District Leadership Meeting

A review of the requirements for high-quality preschool programs in former Abbott districts

Workshop Description The Division of Early Childhood Services (DECS), Office of Preschool Education will facilitate a meeting for former Abbott administrators, revisiting/reviewing the requirements set forth within the Abbott v. Burke supreme court decision, as it relates to the 31 New Jersey Abbott districts and high-quality preschool. In addition, district leaders from a former Abbott school district will present information on how they implement the required elements of Abbott v. Burke to ensure high-quality preschool for their children and families.

This meeting will be the first in a plan to re-establish meetings for former Abbott district administrators, in order to support the unique needs of these districts.

This meeting will be offered in a hybrid manner where Directors and Supervisors of the preschool program within the 31 Abbott districts may attend in-person, and Superintendents of these same districts may attend the meeting simultaneously, through Microsoft Teams (virtually). Each in-person attendee must register to attend through the Department of Education, Events Registration Administration (if you are reading this, you are here). Virtual attendees will register to attend by completing the form included in the meeting notification email (previously shared).
