21st CCLC Peer Networking Session

Enhancing Your Summer Program

Date(s) & Time(s) April 23, 2019   ~  11:00 am - 1:30 pm
Workshop Description 21st CCLC grantees are required to operate a summer program that engages youth in learning and reduces the potential for summer learning loss. Research shows that students who fall behind during summer months are less likely to graduate from high school or go on to college. Creating opportunities for summer learning is vital and sets the stage for innovation, creativity, and leadership in every community.

This interactive session will offer guidance to current 21st CCLC grantees--in Cohorts 10 through 14--on how to successfully implement cross-content integration and application of skills across program themes (Career Exploration; Civic Engagement; STE(A)M; Visual and Performing Arts) during the summer months.

Participants in this peer networking session will discuss ideas and design strategies for implementing high quality & engaging summer learning experiences for youth; participants will also outline a plan for their 21st CCLC program's summer session, to include: promotion and marketing, cross-content integration, application of skills across program themes, and suggestions for meaningful off-site experiential learning activities.
