Webinar Description Standardized assessments present significant linguistic challenges for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, demanding complex American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation strategies. This interactive presentation provides a comprehensive examination of the practical implementation of ASL interpretation in standardized K-12 assessments, examining the multifaceted process of interpreting assessment content into ASL while maintaining semantic integrity and ensuring educational equity. The group will explore linguistic challenges and best practices for ASL interpretation in high-stakes assessments, and the critical impact of effective interpretation on student performance.

The EIPA Diagnostic Center is excited to offer four video conference workshops for the 2025-2026 academic year. The workshops are designed for interpreters working in K-12 classroom settings, community interpreters with an interest in educational interpreting, future interpreters, K-12 interpreter mentors, deaf educators, and individuals supervising educational interpreters.
