Workshop Description The New Jersey Department of Education's Office of School Preparedness and Emergency Planning will be hosting the School Safety Specialist Academy at the Stockton University Southern Regional Institute and ETTC, October 15, 22, and 29, and November 4, 2024, from 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

To attend this four-day training and receive the School Safety Specialist certification, candidates must:
- Be a school administrator or a school employee with expertise in school safety and security;
- Be a district employee designated by the school district superintendent;
- Complete the FEMA Introduction to the Incident Command System, IS-100.C, online course; and
- Complete all four days of training sessions.

Topics mandated by legislation will be presented as well as other best practices and resources for school safety, security, intervention/ prevention and emergency preparedness.

In accordance with N.J.S.A.18A:17-43.3, all school districts are required to have a School Safety Specialist.
