Using Early Literacy Data for Instructional Decision Making and Intervention Planning

Workshop Description This session will offer practical support and knowledge to professionals tasked with implementing a team-based, preventative approach to identifying students' early reading difficulties. Presentation will share information about how theoretical models of reading development like the Simple View of Reading (Gough & Tunmer 1986) and the Cognitive Foundations Framework (Hoover & Tunmer 2019) can help educators understand the value of student assessment data and ultimately offer a frame for the interpretation of assessment results. . This session will offer educational professionals a systematic understanding of how to interpret assessment data to drive student-learning outcomes and write SMART intervention goals. Resources from the NJTSS-ER framework will be shared.
