In a continued effort to ensure that New Jersey's students are college and career ready, the New Jersey Department of Education's Office of Career Readiness and the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development will co-host a series of webinars to introduce educators and counselors to the exciting career pathways that exist in the state's seven key industries: Advanced Manufacturing, Financial Services, Health Care, Life Sciences, Retail, Hospitality & Tourism, Technology, and Transportation, Logistics and Distribution.

These webinars will provide an overview of each of the key industries in New Jersey and the various career pathways that exist within each for students with differing levels of educational attainment and skills. They will include information about the jobs available, the qualifications, credentials and skills needed to secure those positions, and the employment projections in New Jersey. In addition, individuals who have enjoyed successful careers in the industry will share their personal stories and paths to success.

The first of these webinars will focus on Advanced Manufacturing. New Jersey has a long history of manufacturing and innovation, and manufacturing is showing strong signs of rebirth at both the national and state level. Today, the shift from heavy manufacturing to advanced manufacturing is increasing the supply of high-skill, high-demand jobs in the industry. This webinar will provide an overview of the manufacturing industry in New Jersey and the various career pathways that exist within students with differing levels of educational attainment and skills.

Administrators, teachers and counselors are invited to participate in these webinars. There is no registration fee for this event. Registration will close on Monday, March 20, 2017.
