Workshop Description

The five-day School Safety Specialist Basic Training will be held in March of 2022.

This MANDATORY five-day training is required for school administrators or school employees with school security experience, who are designated by their district superintendent as a School Safety Specialist.

Topics mandated by legislation will be presented as well as other best practices and resources for school, safety, security, intervention/ prevention and emergency preparedness.

NOTE: This five-day training is for school administrators as well as others employed by school districts who are involved in school safety and security. Attendance is mandatory from 8:30 - 4:00 on all five days to receive the School Safety Specialist Certification.

Due to the COVID-19 social distancing mandates, the number of attendees allowed in the auditorium is limited. The registration will be restricted to one person per sending district

Those who need to make up missed sessions from a previous training should register AND contact karen.carella@doe.nj.gov to inquire which day(s) they must attend to complete their SSS training. Day one of a prior training does not necessarily correlate to day one of this training.

ALL DISTRICTS MUST HAVE A CERTIFIED SCHOOL SAFETY SPECIALIST TO BE IN COMPLIANCE.
