South - Mental Health First Aid Training

Presented by Maurice Sheppard

Date(s) & Time(s) December 5, 2019   ~  8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Workshop Description Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour course that teaches you how to help someone who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge. The training helps you identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help both crisis and non-crisis situations.

Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. In the Mental Health First Aid course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help.

Participants will leave with materials provided in course.

Presented by the Disaster & Terrorism Branch of the Division of Mental Health & Addictions Services of in the NJ Department of Human Services.
