Perkins V Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment Technical Assistance Workshop

Career and Technical Education

Date(s) & Time(s) October 28, 2019   ~  9:00 am - 3:30 pm
Workshop Description The Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V), signed into law on July 31, 2018, requires that local education agencies eligible to receive Perkins funds complete a Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA). The CLNA must include six key components including a review of student performance, program quality, alignment to labor market needs, a review of progress towards implementing CTE programs and programs of study, educator development, and special populations access to programs. Consultation with a diverse group of stakeholders is required including representatives of CTE programs in the district; postsecondary institutions; workforce development boards and a range of local or regional businesses or industries; parents and students; special populations; agencies serving out-of-school youth, homeless children, at-risk youth; and Indian tribes and Tribal organizations in the State, where applicable.

This workshop will introduce the CLNA, review the process for completion, and allow an opportunity for schools to collaborate with postsecondary institutions.

Due to limited capacity, school districts are limited to two staff. This workshop has reached capacity. Please email Debra Wolfe at debra.wolfe@doe.nj.gov to request attendance.
