Gangs...Signs, Signals and Awareness

Gang Awarness

Date(s) & Time(s) September 26, 2019   ~  9:00 am - 11:30 am
Workshop Description The New Jersey Department of Education
Office of School Preparedness and Emergency Planning

Gang membership is increasing at an alarming rate, and so is the violence and illegal activity associated with it. Gangs are no longer limited to urban areas. They are flourishing in neighborhoods all over New Jersey. Their activity - often criminal and extremely violent - also leaves in its wake many innocent victims. Gangs are no longer just an inner-city phenomenon. They have become a major problem that must be recognized in the cities and suburbs alike. This session will provide an up-close and intimate look at the gangs actively recruiting children and provide current information on the colors, symbols, etc. associated with gang membership that may be found in your school district.
