Workshop Description

The Algebra 1 Professional Development work session will focus on organizing the conceptual category (number and quantity, algebra, functions, geometry, modeling and probability and statistics for the domain Algebra 1 course. The PD will support the collaborative conversations around data, curriculum and instruction. These conversations will be centered on the knowledge students should learn in each conceptual category to work towards college and career readiness and to be prepared to continue with math courses. During this workshop, educators will have the opportunity to engage in the collaborative conversations regarding best practices as well as build upon open educational resources.

In the PM, we will have the opportunity for the high school teams to discuss what is happening in classrooms, and plan next steps to support their curriculum and educators in Algebra

The target audience are Supervisors, Curriculum Directors, Math Coaches, Master Teachers who work directly with Algebra 1.

Bring the following items to this workshop:
-lap top computer (internet access will be provided)
-a copy of your Algebra I curricular materials
-a brown bag lunch and coffee (if desired) -- these will not be provided and there are few options in the immediate vicinity
