Changes to Funding and Requirements, From NCLB to ESSA

Date(s) & Time(s) November 21, 2016   ~  9:00 am - 3:30 pm
Workshop Description The New Jersey Department of Education (Department) will hold full-day technical assistance sessions to provide updates on federal funding streams under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). When the ESSA was passed in 2015, it replaced NCLB and reauthorized ESEA, resulting in changes to allocation formulas, authorized uses, reporting requirements, and fiscal rules for funding streams in ESEA such as Title I, Part A, Title II, Part A, Title III, Part A, and Title IV, Part A (newly authorized). At these sessions, the Department will discuss these changes and what they mean for school districts' spending of federal funds for the 2017-2018 school year; the first year of full implementation of ESSA.

These sessions are intended for school district teams involved in planning, administering, and monitoring federal funds. This could include a grant manager, a Title I director, a superintendent or assistant superintendent, and/or anyone else involved in federal grant planning and management. Therefore, Attendance is limited to three people per district.

Each session will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. LUNCH WILL BE SERVED. Parking and entry are at the rear of the building.
